Air time
Hit the wake, get the air, land it, do it again
Getting up the first time
The whole trick is patience. You sit in the water with your knees tucked, arms straight, board across the wake, and let the boat pull you up rather than pulling yourself up. Straight arms, knees bent, and stand only once the board is planing. Nearly everyone who fails is bending their arms and standing too early.
Progression on one rental
A realistic half day looks like this: an hour getting comfortable riding inside the wake, then crossing the wake toe-side and heel-side, then your first small jumps off the crest. Riders who already wakeboard can ask for more ballast and a longer rope for a bigger, cleaner-faced wake.
Where we ride
Wakeboarding wants a long straight run of flat water. The stretch inside Wiggins Pass and the wide sections of Naples Bay both give you enough room to set an edge without turning constantly. On a calm day the nearshore Gulf just outside the pass is the best water in Collier County.
