The whole thing in one paragraph

One boat, one perfect wave, and no upsells at the dock.

Most rental outfits hand you a hull and then charge you for every board and tube separately. We do the opposite. The rate is the rate, the gear is already loaded, and the only extra is the wake foil board if you want to try flying.

Everything the boat does

Four sports, one afternoon.

The same hull covers all of it. Surf in the morning glass, board through midday, tube when everyone is tired, and put the foil in the water when the wind comes up.

Where we meet you

Two free launches in Naples, one in Goodland.

Pick whichever is closer to where you are staying. We have the boat in the water and fueled before you arrive, walk you through the systems at the ramp, and your clock starts when you leave the dock. Goodland is a flat $120 delivery and the fast way into the Ten Thousand Islands.

Local guide

The best things to do in Naples are offshore.

We wrote the guide we wished existed when guests asked what else to do. Beaches, backwaters, the island you can only reach by boat, and what is actually worth your time on a rainy afternoon.

  1. 01

Surf the wave behind a wake boat

The one thing on this list you cannot do from shore. A surf boat shapes a rope-free wave you can ride for as long as your legs last, and the same boat covers wakeboarding, foiling and tubing in the same afternoon.

  2. 02

Beach a boat on Keewaydin Island

Eight miles of barrier island with no road to it, no concessions and no crowds on a weekday. Anchor in the shallows off the bay side, wade ashore, and you get a Gulf beach that feels private. Bring everything you plan to eat and drink.

  3. 03

    Shell the Ten Thousand Islands

South of Marco the coast dissolves into hundreds of mangrove keys. The outer bars hold fighting conchs, olives and the occasional junonia on a low tide, and the runs between islands are usually dead flat.

  4. 04

Watch the sunset from the water off Gordon Pass

Naples sunsets are famous from the pier, but the pier is crowded and faces the wrong way for the last ten minutes. Idling just outside Gordon Pass with the engine off is the version people remember.

  5. 05

Dolphins in Naples Bay and Rookery Bay

Resident bottlenose dolphins work the passes and the bay year-round and routinely surf boat wakes. Rookery Bay Reserve protects 110,000 acres just south of the city — slow down, keep your distance, and they come to you.

SURFL — the apparel side

More than a brand. A beach state of mind.

SURFL is the trademarked label behind the boat: twelve designs across men's, women's and kids, from the Original wave mark to the Dive Mask, the Longboard and UPF 50+ rashguards you will actually want on the water.

Before you book

The questions we get every week.

How much does it cost to rent the Surf Florida wake surf boat in Naples?

Surf Florida rents its Naples wake surf boat for $210 per hour with a 6-hour minimum, which comes to $1,260 for a half day, or $1,350 for a full day. Florida sales tax, Boatsetter booking fees and the fuel you burn are added on top. Every rental includes wakesurf boards, wakeboards, tubes, tow ropes and life jackets at no extra charge.

How do I book the boat?

All bookings run through Boatsetter, which handles the rental agreement, payment and insurance. Pick your date and duration on the Boatsetter listing and Darrick confirms it, usually within 12 hours. Boatsetter also holds the security deposit and releases it 48 hours after your trip.

Do I need a boating license or a captain?

No captain is required — you run the boat yourself. Florida does not issue a recreational boating license; it issues a Boating Safety Education Identification Card, and whether you need proof of boating-safety education depends on your date of birth. Born before January 1, 1988, and Florida’s age-based education requirement generally does not apply to you. Born on or after January 1, 1988, and you generally need qualifying proof of boating-safety education with you while operating a motorboat of 10 horsepower or greater. Boatsetter account verification, insurance eligibility and our own operator check apply on top of the state rule. You get a full ramp-side briefing on the boat, the surf system and the local channels before you leave the dock. If you would rather not drive, ask and we will send a list of local captains you can hire separately.

Are boards and tubes included in the rental price?

Yes. Wakesurf boards, wakeboards for adults and youth, towable tubes, tow ropes and Coast Guard life jackets are all included in the hourly and daily rate. The only paid extra is the wake foil board, which is an add-on you reserve when you book.

Can I rent the boat on a Sunday?

Not as a single day. Surf Florida runs Monday through Saturday, and Sundays are reserved. A multi-day booking can run straight through a Sunday, so a Saturday-to-Monday weekend works fine.

Which marina do we leave from?

Cocohatchee River Marina at 13535 Vanderbilt Dr in North Naples, or Bayview Park Marina at 1575 Danford St on Naples Bay. Both are free to launch from and you pick whichever is closer to where you are staying. We meet you at the ramp with the boat already in the water and fueled. A third option is Goodland Boat Park at 750 Palm Point Dr in Goodland, on the back side of Marco Island, for a $120 delivery fee — that is the Ten Thousand Islands launch.
